OUR CURRICULUM
The Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) is the world’s finest Comprehensive Curriculum of Musical Development, encompassing the following:
Repertoire
Each level includes a broad selection of pieces representing a variety of styles and periods. Repertoire selections are leveled progressively in difficulty. Periodic reviews of the repertoire keep the selections fresh and innovative. Teachers and students can add favorite pieces through the Teacher’s Choice and Own Choice selections.
Technique
Each level of technique is designed to support the demands of the repertoire for that level. Technique includes scales, chords, arpeggios, patterns, and études.
Musicianship
Musicianship is developed through a thoughtful and consistent approach to the development of reading and aural skills. Musicianship skills are developed in conjunction with repertoire goals and requirements. Musicianship skills give students a solid foundation for independent creative musical explorations.
Musical Literacy
The Certificate Program’s academic subjects support students in acquiring the theoretical and historical knowledge necessary for music literacy. Theoretical levels are tied to practical (performance) levels, reinforcing concepts encountered in repertoire, technique, and musicianship studies. At-the-keyboard examinations of keyboard harmony and musicianship present students with an opportunity to develop skills in improvisation and composition.
Each lesson is personal
The fundamental aspects of our lessons include, but are not limited to:
- Your music
- Proper technique
- Reading skills
- Ear training
- Music theory
Classically focused training
We do believe that “classical” music training is the most holistic approach to improving your overall musicianship and playing techniques. We can take this knowledge and technique and apply it to any popular genre you wish to pursue.

FAQ
What group lessons do you offer?
We offer group lessons for ages 0-4 and 4-6. After students turn 7, they will be prepared to start private piano lessons.
Is my child the right age to start music lessons?
Right now, we offer group lessons for ages 0-6. Our courses are created and tailored in a way to fit each stage of development for early childhood – all ages can benefit in many ways by attending. Be in touch with us if you have specific questions about your child’s development.
How many students are in the group lessons?
It is important that children are able to interact with caregivers, other children and the instructor. As a result, each group lesson will only have approximately 6 students. Spots are very limited.
Do you offer make-up classes?
If you miss a class or several classes due to unforeseen circumstances or illness, please reach out to us. However, please understand that we are not able to offer a make-up class as an official part of our course policy.
Should parents/caregivers attend Montessori group lessons?
Yes! Caregivers are an integral part of our classes. Keyboard Prep: Caregivers do not need to attend.
Does my child or I need to have any prior experience to join?
No! Previous musical experience is not required for any of our classes.
